I've been working towards a proper dyno run video, but there's been so many setbacks that I've run out of time, so this is a 'latest news' video, so i can get some other stuff done, and then sort the car out properly.

Latest developments on the car front. I was hoping it would be a dyno success, but it turns out there is still some work to do. Anyway, it sounds nice with the headphones on! Edit:- When I’m using the O2 sensor I put an extension pipe on. I know it wouldn’t work very well without it. Making decent progress with the body. Found some wet tyres, painted the wheels but don't like them. Getting bored with carbon fibre. Want to get back on the milling machine. So, need to design rear end, rear wing, rear diffuser, better exhaust back box, onboard compressed air supply, bigger front brake callipers, vented front brake discs, then it should be done. Not much engine activity going on, in lockdown, so this is an update of how the bodyshell is coming along. Its a steep learning curve, not done much of this type of thing before, with carbon fibre anyway. Horrible stuff, but ill get the hang of it in a bit. Latest news here:- keith57000

Gearbox is finally working. Only problem is downshift from 2 to 1 is a bit crashy still. The sequential gearchange switch is shown at the end of the video. This activates the solenoid valves, which operate the gearchange air cylinders. Rev limiter set for 8500, but I noticed it doesn't rev to more than 7500, so i need to look at that later. Fuel map not done yet. got a wideband sensor to instal...

Gearbox was finished, the air shift system is working, but a few minutes before taking this video I engaged gear at far too high an idle speed, and I think something has already broken in the gearbox. The new exhaust sounds so good, despite the gearbox clonking, so I thought I'd upload the video anyway. EDIT, Gearbox problem shown on my Instagram, keith57000.

The gearbox is finally in place, with air cylinders for gearchange. New, stronger driveshafts, new belt drive layout for electric motors. No propshaft yet, so no engine driving. the 2nd half of the video has some earlier footage of the gearbox details, and trying to manipulate it into position.

A progress report on the gearbox build. I'm over halfway through now, but it's taking a long time. Managed to get a bit of electric testing in the garden, and done a bit more with the cardboard body mock-up. Note-this is not the finished bodyshell! Hydraulic disc front brakes. Vesc6 rear electric brakes. These tyres no good on grass. Am going to turn to getting the V10 working now. Done a bit of running in the garden, on one electric motor, and finally got the V10 running a bit. ENGINE STARTS AROUND 5.20. A bit smokey. I've had a bit more time than expected since the last update. Main job has been making the front brake calipers. They have been a bit of a pain but it's all working now. they have 16mm pistons and cut down cycle Kevlar pads. Managed to find some 6" kart tyres as I hate the existing 5" wheels and tyres. Haven't managed to get the engine running yet. exhaust is nearly finished, cooling system is working. ECU and coil packs are wired in, but no oil or fuel system yet. Can't even get the VESC6 speed controllers to connect to the PC. Electric motors are 4500w each. Not going to comment on the motor/esc supplier until it actually works.

is it me or does he not have a cooling system for the engine because I'm seeing a bit a smoke coming from the engine after it being ran for quite some time
The level of engineering, knowledge, attention to detail, creativity and craftsmanship in this thing is absolutely mind blowing. It gives me goosebumps every time i watch a video. Thankyou for continuing to share that journey with us. While I absolutely cant wait to see the final iteration, perfection does take time, so take your time Keith. All the best.

Beautiful absurdity.
Would using an actual ECU be possible? I feel like that could help a lot with running the whole car as well as making it much simpler to manage the motor and associated parts. Not sure if there are any small or light enough to reasonably consider for a project like this but it'd be worth looking at at least.
It runs a Megasquirt 3 ECU. It is a bit big. Should have tried the Microsquirt

Keith, you have been one of my main inspirations to get my mechanical engineering degree, seeing a hand-built mini v10 has certainly redefined what I see as possible. Since the Last time I watched your channel I have bought a new truck, broken up with three girls, and got halfway through my engineering degree. However, just as I finished my circuits final something triggered my memory to come back here to get an update. I was amazed to see you running the car through its gears on the dyno, as the last time I checked in you were having quarrels with the transmission. I hope you are doing well, don't let the negative comments get to you, let's see that successful dyno run!
Hello, glad I can inspire someone. I gave up with the engine for a while and started making a new bodyshell, but it’s tak8ng forever, because I’m not used to carbon fibre moulding, etc. hopefully a new video soon.
@@Keith5700 Having worked with carbon fiber, I can confirm, it is a pain. Especially when looking for a good surface finish, I wish I had some advice besides spending a bunch of time and money making a negative and then sanding the shit out of it, haha! Glad to hear you are still keeping at it!

Has to be an issue in valve train can you get new valve seals?
Should try adding a Catalytic converter or something to stop the burning of the oil maybe like a choke or something

Nine or ten years ago, I saw the construction of the start of this project and I am always amazed by so much time and patience to reach the finality of it, I am very happy to see the engine (project from the start) finally ending up on a basis of I just hope I'm still here to see it shoot on the track.
